Our Diagnostic Services

12-Lead Electrocardiogram (ECG)

A 12-lead ECG is a quick, non-invasive test that records your heart’s electrical activity. It helps detect arrhythmias, previous heart attacks, and other cardiac issues, providing essential insight into your heart health.

At Prime Cardiology, we use high-quality ECG equipment to assist in the early detection and ongoing management of a wide range of cardiac conditions. This quick test is often the first step in evaluating your heart health during your visit.

Holter Monitoring

Holter monitoring is a continuous ECG recording used to detect heart rhythm abnormalities over 24 to 48 hours or longer. It helps diagnose arrhythmias, palpitations, and unexplained dizziness by capturing irregular heart activity that may not appear during a standard ECG. Patients wear a small, portable device that records heart activity during daily activities for a more comprehensive assessment.

28-Day HeartBug Monitor
The 28-day HeartBug monitor is a wearable device that continuously records your heart rhythm over several weeks. It helps detect intermittent arrhythmias that may not appear on shorter tests, providing valuable information for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is a 24-hour test that measures blood pressure at regular intervals throughout the day and night. It provides a more accurate assessment of blood pressure fluctuations than a single clinic reading, helping diagnose hypertension, white coat syndrome, and masked hypertension. ABPM is essential for guiding treatment decisions and optimising blood pressure management.

Our Imaging services

Transthoracic echocardiogram

Echocardiography is a non-invasive ultrasound-based imaging technique that provides detailed real-time visualization of the heart’s structure and function. It is essential for assessing heart valves, chamber sizes, and overall cardiac performance. Our state-of-the-art echocardiography services ensure accurate diagnosis and monitoring of heart disease with high-resolution imaging.

Exercise stress echocardiogram

Exercise stress echocardiography evaluates the heart’s function under physical exercise. It is used to assess coronary artery disease, myocardial ischemia, and exercise tolerance. By comparing resting and post-exercise images, we identify abnormalities that may not be evident at rest, providing crucial insights into your cardiovascular health

Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram
A dobutamine stress echocardiogram is a test that assesses how your heart functions under stress using medication instead of exercise. Dobutamine stimulates the heart to mimic the effects of physical activity. This test helps diagnose coronary artery disease and assess heart function when exercise isn’t possible and in some instances to assess the specific types of aortic valve stenosis. This test is usually performed in a hospital or day care clinic .

Trans-oesophageal echocardiogram

Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) is an advanced ultrasound technique used to obtain highly detailed images of the heart and its structures. TOE involves passing a specialised probe into the oesophagus, allowing for clearer visualisation of the heart without interference from the chest wall or lungs. This technique is particularly useful for assessing valve disease, detecting blood clots, evaluating infections, and guiding certain cardiac procedures. TOE is a safe and commonly performed procedure, typically conducted under mild sedation for patient comfort.

Cardiac CT angiography (CTCA)

Coronary CT angiography (CTCA) is a non-invasive imaging test that provides detailed 3D images of the coronary arteries to detect plaque, narrowing, or blockages. It is an effective tool for diagnosing coronary artery disease early and guiding treatment decisions. The scan requires a contrast injection to enhance artery visualisation and is performed quickly with minimal discomfort.

Calcium score scan

A coronary artery calcium (CAC) score is a specialised CT scan that measures calcified plaque in the coronary arteries, helping assess heart disease risk before symptoms develop. The score, reported as an Agatston value, indicates the level of arterial calcification, with higher scores linked to greater cardiovascular risk. This quick, low-radiation test does not require contrast and is widely used for preventive heart health assessment. Sometimes Calcium scan is done in conjunction with CTCA.

Cardiac MRI

Cardiac MRI is a non-invasive imaging test that provides detailed, high-resolution images of the heart and blood vessels using magnetic fields and radio waves. It is used to assess heart structure, function, and tissue characteristics, helping diagnose conditions such as cardiomyopathies, heart failure, congenital defects, and myocarditis. Unlike CT, cardiac MRI does not use ionising radiation and often includes contrast to enhance imaging. It is a powerful tool for comprehensive heart assessment, offering precise information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
